History of the 100 Lire 1965 Minerva
The 100 Lire Minerva was issued from 1955 to 1989, making it one of the most widely circulated coins of the Italian Republic. The obverse features a portrait of Italia, while the reverse depicts Minerva — goddess of wisdom and craft — standing with her owl, evoking Italy's cultural heritage. The coin was demonetised on 28 February 2002 with the introduction of the euro.
